Conn Blade Mounting Considerations - Clear Area

Beyond impeller bore configurations, with the Conn styles as well as other louvered or vented styles open area in the center of the impeller must also be considered.  Typically, reinforcing discs, taper plates, sandwhich the blade to stiffen the disperser disc.  Due to the louver placement on the conn blade, the size of these disks, and with small sizes - the diameter of the mounting hub, must be considered.

The below table gives approximate dimensions of the CONN Blade styles IT and ITT.  The Clear Diameter (yellow column) defines the diameter of a circle clear of obstruction.  The clear diameter represents the largest taper plate or hub a given size impeller can handle.

For Example:  It is generally recommended to use taper plates, Reinforcing disks. approximately ⅔ the impeller diameter.  However due to the louvers in th Conn Blade, the largest taper plates that can be used with a Size 12 - CONN Style is 5".

* Because of this the impellers are made of heavier gage material to provide their own stiffness.

Even more CRITICAL:   Due to the limited clear area on the CONN styles, the smallest impeller that can be installed on some standard Hub mount disperser, (i.e. Cowles, Myers) is limited due to diameter of the mounting hub.  A typical Myers 775-15, 15 HP disperser has a mounting hub of approximately 3¼".  This would require a size 7 and larger CONN Blade.
